Yesterday night we had a very good rest after back from Kundasang. Today, we are fully-charged and go for island hopping. We had our breakfast at the famous restaurant (Fook Yuen) which is a bit similar to Old Town White Coffee. But, they are providing self-service and the food price here really cheap. We ordered their famous food – Roti Kahwin and some other foods. The taste not bad though.
Tunku Abdul Rahman Park – a very famous and huge marine park which is consists of lots of islands. Frankly speaking, you don’t need to get any island hopping package from the travel agents. Unlike Tioman, Redang and all the islands, the guide will bring you to the island and wait you there for few hours. At Tunku Rahman Park, they are practicing flexible and free & easy. How to say?
There are two jetties here; you can depart from either Sutera Harbour (private) or Jesselton jetty (government/public). First, you need to decide how many islands that planned to go. We chose all the islands, except Gaya Island. I think it is too far and it seems very rush for us. We bought the island package from one of the travel agency, it is about RM40 for 3 islands (Manukan, Mamutik and Sapi) and the snorkeling equipment also included. For the jetty fees, you need to pay RM7 and also RM3 for the entrance fees when you arrive at the first island. Usually if you get the package from the travel agent (3 islands, equipment and BBQ lunch buffet), it costs about RM180 per person. It takes about 20 min from the jetty to the first island – Manukan. The boat driver will tell us what time they are coming to pick us up to the next destination. And, they left here. They will not wait for the passenger at the jetty here. It is very happening and we got the way to the other side of the beach, and this time we managed to see the majestic view of the Mt. Kinabalu. Lots of people do BBQ and picnic here. Some even bring cards to have a ‘small Genting’ here. This is the only island where people can overnight here. The resort here looks pretty good. We spent about 2 hours here and we need to wait for the boat to go to the next destination – Mamutik. We noticed that this island not as happening as the previous island – Manukan. Basically if you get the BBQ lunch buffet package, you can enjoy your meals here. Anyway, it is still very relaxing here to enjoy the wave, beach, sands and the sunshine. Same, we spent our two hours here. Okay, we have been transferred to the last destination – Sapi which is located a bit far from Manukan and Mamutik. We had sweet time to swim and snorkel around. The beach here very nice with clear waters, no litters, not-so-strong wave, and of course it must matches with the sunny day.
The last boat to transfer to the jetty is 4pm. We are damn starving mannnn. Quick grabbed some junks in KFC when we were on the way back to hotel.
After showered, again we were out for the photoshooting around the coast in Apit area. And, it is sunset time. It’s breezy and the sunset really amazed. Out of our schedule, we decided to have our seafood dinner again, at Gayang which located a bit outskirt of Apit town. Okay, I shall highlight some points here. There’s no proper signboard along the roadside for you to get to one place. So, its better you bring along a GPS if possible. The journey to Gayang takes about 45 mins and it’s in very dark condition and without lamp-post. We were fully relied on the GPS which I used to scold him stupid and useless sometimes. It managed to bring us the famous Gayang seafood restaurant at Gayang. We ordered lots of seafood, especially the clams – definitely and absolutely missing it until now. You really couldn’t imagine that how it could be so famous in the township and yet there’s no proper direction to the place. It’s totally crowded and packed in the restaurant. Well, this restaurant is famous with their affordable and cheap price as compared to others. Return to the hotel and rest early tonight after the whole day snorkeled. Good night, world =)
